Gene IL-12/23
Background Interleukin-12 (IL-12) is a receptor for IL-12R and belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family. This cytokine acts as a growth factor for activated T cells and natural killer cells, enhances the lytic activity of natural killer cells or lymphokine-activated killer cells, and stimulates IFN-γ production through resting PBMC. Il-23 encodes a subunit of the heterodimer cell factor interleukin 23(IL 23),The gene consists of its protein and the p40 subunit of interleukin 12(IL12B). The receptor for IL23 consists of the β1 subunit of IL12 (IL12RB1) and the specific subunit of IL23, IL23R. Both IL 23 and IL 12 activate the transcriptional activator STAT4 and stimulate the production of interferon gamma (IFNG). Compared with IL 12, which mainly acts on infantile CD4(+)T cells, IL 23 preferentially acts on memory CD4(+)T cells. Anti-IL-12/23(Ustekinumab) hIgG1 antibody is a human immunoglobulin (Ig) G1 kappa monoclonal antibody that targets interleukin (IL-12) and IL-23. It is used to treat various inflammatory conditions involving activation of the IL-12 and IL-23 signaling pathways.
