Background |
The IL1A gene encodes interleukin-1α (il-1α) , a key mediator of innate immunity and inflammatory responses. It is rapidly released by keratinocyte after skin damage, initiates downstream pro-inflammatory signaling pathways by binding and activating the IL-1R1/IL-1RAP receptor complex, and promotes the activation of the IL-1R1/IL-1RAP receptor, plays a central driving role in the pathogenesis of chronic inflammatory diseases such as atopic dermatitis (AD) . Bermekimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed to target this mechanism. Its central role is to specifically and high-affinity bind to il-1α, thereby blocking the interaction of il-1α with its receptor and inhibiting the resulting inflammatory cascade from the source. |
