Background |
Trem2(Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid Cells 2) gene is located on human genome 6q21.1, encoding a transmembrane Receptor protein belonging to immunoglobulin superfamily, which is mainly Expressed on the surface of Myeloid Cells such as microglia and macrophages, in particular, it plays a key role in specific organs such as brain, bone and adipose tissue. This gene binds to adaptor protein DAP12(DNAX-activating protein of 12 kDa) through transmembrane domain to form a signaling complex, which activates downstream Syk kinase and PI3K pathways, and then regulates cell phagocytosis, inflammation suppression and metabolic processes. |
