Source Human Transferrin R Protein; His Tag (GM-88644RP) is expressed from human 293 cells (HEK-293). It contains AA Cys 89 - Phe 760 (Accession # P02786-1).
This protein carries a his tag at the N-terminus.
Purity > 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE
Endotoxin < 1 EU/μg, determined by LAL gel clotting assay
Predicted Mol Mass 76.0 KDa
Formulation Supplied as a 0.2 μm filtered solution of PBS, pH7.2-7.4.
Description Transferrin R protein, also known as Transferrin Receptor 1, is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that mediates cellular iron uptake by binding diferric transferrin and internalizing the complex via clathrin‑dependent endocytosis. It is highly expressed on rapidly proliferating cells, including activated lymphocytes, hematopoietic precursors, and many tumor cells, making it a useful marker of cell proliferation and iron demand. The soluble form of transferrin receptor (sTfR) can be detected in serum and is widely used as a biomarker of iron status and erythropoietic activity. Recombinant Transferrin R protein is commonly used in studies of iron metabolism, receptor–ligand interactions, and cancer biology. Synonyms: CD71, TFRC, TFR, sTfR, TfR1, Trfr, T9, p90.
