Description

Insulin binds to the insulin receptor (INSR) to transmit signals. INSR is a single-pass transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase family member. Binding of Insulin to INSR leads to phosphorylation of intracellular substrates, activating downstream signaling pathways. Apart from Insulin and analogues, drug development targeting INSR includes INSR Block antibodies and blood-brain barrier drug delivery.

Genomeditech's Insulin Reporter Cell Line contains a reporter gene that activates downstream signaling pathways upon Insulin binding to the receptor, resulting in the expression of firefly luciferase. This cell line can be used to evaluate the in vitro effects of Insulin-related drugs.
