Description

Interleukin-23 (IL-23) is an inflammatory cytokine that is part of the IL-12 cytokine family. IL-23 is composed of the IL-12B (IL-12p40) subunit and the IL-23A (IL-23p19) subunit. It is mainly secreted by activated dendritic cells, macrophages, or monocytes. IL-23 is a key cytokine involved in maintaining and amplifying Th17 helper T cells, allowing Th17 cells to release their effector cytokines and mediate autoimmune responses.

The functional receptor for IL-23 (IL-23 receptor) consists of a heterodimer between IL-12Rβ1 and IL-23R. IL-23 is associated with autoimmune inflammatory diseases such as colitis, gastritis, psoriasis, and arthritis. Ustekinumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting this cytokine, acting on the P40 subunit, used in the treatment of certain autoimmune diseases.

Genomeditech's H_IL-23 Reporter 293 Cell Line is a cell line based on HEK-293 cells, constructed using the JAK-STAT signaling pathway to include a luciferase reporter gene. When IL-23 binds to the IL-23R and IL12Rβ1 receptors, it activates the expression of luciferase. Luciferase readings represent the activation effect of the signaling pathway and can therefore be used for in vitro evaluation of IL-23 related drugs.
