The KIF5B-RET fusion protein is a result of the fusion between the KIF5B (kinesin family member 5B) and RET (Rearranged during Transfection) genes. This fusion protein is found in some tumors, particularly lung cancer and thyroid cancer. The KIF5B-RET fusion protein has kinase activity, which can activate cell signaling pathways, promoting tumor growth and metastasis. Therefore, the KIF5B-RET fusion protein is considered an important driver of tumors and a potential therapeutic target.
BA/F3 cells are precursor B cells that depend on interleukin-3 (IL-3), and certain protein kinases can replace IL-3, allowing Ba/F3 cells to grow dependently. Inhibitors can then be used to antagonize this effect, making it possible to use this property for kinase inhibitor research.
