The KIF5B-RET fusion protein is a protein produced by the fusion of the KIF5B (kinesin family member 5B) and RET (Rearranged during Transfection) genes. This fusion protein has been found in several tumors, particularly lung cancer and thyroid cancer. The KIF5B-RET fusion protein exhibits kinase activity, enabling the activation of cellular signaling pathways that promote tumor growth and metastasis. Therefore, KIF5B-RET fusion protein is considered an important driver of tumors and a potential therapeutic target.
BA/F3 cells are a precursor B cell line that relies on interleukin-3 (IL-3). Some protein kinases can substitute for IL-3 to promote the growth of Ba/F3 cells in a dependency manner. Subsequently, inhibitors can be used to antagonize this effect, allowing for research into kinase inhibitors.
