Gastric inhibitory peptide receptors mainly exist in beta cells of the pancreas. GIPR activated by gastric inhibitory peptides induces adenylate cyclase activation by binding to the heterotrimeric G (α β γ), increasing cAMP levels in the cytoplasm. cAMP activates PKA, phosphorylates regulatory gene transcription proteins, and causes their translocation to the nucleus.
